Charles ‘close’ to one royal child but Queen had ‘profound investment’ in another – claims

Queen Elizabeth II was a “doting” great-grandmother to 12 sweet royal children, including Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

When the Queen was alive, body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “The Queen has often looked at her happiest when surrounded by her great-grandchildren and even in more formal poses she appears relaxed and quietly playful.

“Her bonds with all of them appear typically doting although we have been shown some moments that look especially intimate.”

According to the body language expert, the late Queen had incredibly close relationships with her great-grandchildren but in one she had a particularly “profound investment”.

Princess Charlotte bears a “marked” physical resemblance to the late Queen, and appeared “confident” in her presence.

Indeed, Judi told Express.co.uk: “She is often seen close to the Queen looking happy and relaxed, suggesting a mutually close relationship.

“She sat on the Queen’s lap for one formal portrait and when that position was taken by her younger brother Louis for the next formal shot it was still Charlotte sitting close, between the Queen and Prince Philip, raising one hand in the air to suggest she was totally relaxed and totally uninhibited in their company.”

But despite Charlotte’s comfortableness around her great-granny, the late Queen’s “profound investment” lay in Prince George.

The shared “destiny” between Queen Elizabeth II and young George added a crucial layer to their relationship.

Judi said: “Like her relationship with Charles and William, there is always the sense of something very special in the Queen’s bonding with George that is based on empathy and destiny.

“The Queen knows more than anyone what is in store for her heirs and her bonds with George, who featured in that all-important photo with his father, grandfather and great-grandmother to define the line of accession, already show signs of a shared sense of duty alongside the more usual signals of a very loving great-granny.”

Judi James also spoke to Express.co.uk about King Charles’s relationship with George, Charlotte and George, suggesting that he has a special bond with the youngest of the three.

She stated: “Like most grandparents, Charles probably dotes on all his grandchildren, even the ones he doesn’t get to see, but there is one in particular that the public has been allowed glimpses of that affection at work with.”

According to the expert, Charles for the most part “avoids any PDAs”, but makes an exception for the “affectionate” Zara Tindall and also little Prince Louis.

“As a result, both Zara and Louis bring out some of the best body language in Charles, with Louis in particular able to give the King the gift of looking openly affectionate and more down-to-earth than normal.”

Judi referenced two very sweet moments between the King and his grandson, the first in an official photo where Louis reached forward to grab Charles’s face, and the second during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations when Louis was snapped being cuddled by his grandad.

The expert said: “You can pick a child up or sit it on your lap but it’s when we see Louis throw his arms around his grandad’s neck in a reciprocal gesture that we get a hint of how close the pair are behind the scenes.”
