Having held senior roles with KPMG and PA Consulting Group, Charlie Simpson has been named a new Partner with EY-Parthenon. He brings more than 20 years of consulting experience to the strategy firm.
EY Parthenon is the strategy consulting arm of EY, founded in 2013 when the Big Four acquired The Parthenon Group. Since then, the rebranded EY-Parthenon has seen strong global growth, both organically and on the back of an aggressive merger and acquisition campaign, particularly in Europe. Between 2016 and 2018, EY-Parthenon bought the entire operations of OC&C Strategy Consultants (a UK-headquartered international strategy consulting firm) in the Benelux, France and Germany.
Having joined EY-Parthenon’s London office at the start of July, Simpson will now use his extensive experience in strategy and transport consulting to help grow the company’s advanced mobility and manufacturing business across Europe, as well as on a global basis. He arrives from KPMG, where he spent the last six years of his career. During his spell with the Big Four firm, Simpson was a Partner and Head of KPMG’s Mobility2030 team. The thought leadership project looks at how the shifting mobility landscape could evolve over time and the effect that may have on our day to day lives.
Prior to joining KPMG, Simpson spent almost 15 years with PA Consulting Group. At the British origin consultancy, he latterly headed up the firm’s market and customer strategy team. During his tenure in that role, he also worked on secondment with Royal Mail – providing commercial strategy for its B2C web-channel – and Virgin Atlantic Airways, where he advised on a customer strategy programme.
On his arrival, Simpson said via his LinkedIn profile, “[I’m] delighted to have joined EY Parthenon [in these] challenging but exciting times.”
A number of senior KPMG personel responded to his post, including Stijn de Groen, Lead for Mobility 2030 in the Netherlands, who wished Simpson “all the best,” and Global Strategy Group Partner Haijo Kampinga, who added, “we’ll see you around!” A number of Simpson’s new EY-Parthenon colleagues meanwhile welcomed his arrival, with Associate Partner Rishi Shah stating it is “great to have you on board,” and Partner Olivier Wolf also wishing him a warm welcome.
