PLANS to change a grocery shop into a new fast-food restaurant are among the latest planning applications that have been submitted to Oxford City Council.
A garage conversion, installation of liquid oxygen tanks at the John Radcliffe Hospital and a Cowley Road restaurant expansion are other plans up for deliberation in the city.
Here is a list of some of the proposals as well as comments submitted.
Convert garage into living space
A family in Oxford want to redesign the internal area of their two-storey house on Banbury Road by creating an additional room in the garage.
The applicant wants to increase liveable spaces within the house due to them having a large family.
The proposed plan includes limited renovation of the garage and the replacing of the lean-to front door gate of the garage with a two timber framed double-glazed sash window.

Grocery shop into takeaway restaurant
A grocery store in Headington could change into a takeaway chicken shop.
The fast-food restaurant on London Road would have five employees and be around 100 square meters.
The applicant says a similar type of shop is 0.5 miles away from the proposed takeaway and it would therefore give local people a ‘really good choice of some fine food’.
A kitchen extractor flue would need to be installed.
It would be open from11am to 12am Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10pm on Sundays.
One resident Julia Boone opposes the takeaway.
She said: “In Headington there are a lot of this type of fast food. Do we need more? Or are they thinking of the students?”

Oxygen tanks at hospital
John Radcliffe Hospital wants to erect two liquid oxygen tanks at its grounds in Headington.
It would install VIE tanks which allows oxygen to be drawn off by passing liquid oxygen through a vaporiser that turns it into a gas, then piping it to individual wards.
The foundation for the existing tanks has shown signs of weather and water damage and a structural survey found that the degradation has reached ‘unacceptable levels’.
It was therefore concluded that the Trust needs a new VIE tank within the hospital grounds.

Restaurant expansion
An African restaurant in Cowley Road wants to create more dining space by building a rear extension.
Heat, which sits opposite O2 Academy, wants to build a flat-roofed 3metre high extension similar to neighbouring businesses and properties.
The proposed seating area to the rear will act as a complimentary addition to the restaurant.
So far, one objection has been submitted by resident David Balch.
He said: “This new application would worsen the character and feel of the area through: its materials, its overbearing of (and potential damage to) the South Park Court courtyard due to its close proximity; intrusion into neighbouring residences’ property, peace and privacy.”

A house in Oxford could get a number of renovations
Applicants want to build a dormer to the rear of the roof of property in Chilswell Road.
They also want to install three rooflights to the front of the house along with a loft conversion and replace the existing ground floor sed with a single storey rear-side return extension.
The plans are to help provide additional living space and enhance the facilities of the family home.
Proposed materials used would resemble the current colour, texture and profile of those used in the existing main house in order to ensure that the external appearance of the existing house is not prejudiced.
The new extension will have a flat roof with surrounding parapet wall.
