Christmas jobs in Manchester you can apply for now

We know what you’re a thinking – what happened to summer and why are we already thinking about Christmas?

Well, the season is changing, the nights are drawing in and its inevitable that we will start thinking about the festive season.

And as well as gifts, decorations and all the general festive fun, it’s also a good time to think about jobs if you’re out of work and looking for something to see you through the busy – and expensive – period.

There’s already plenty up for grabs as companies start advertising their seasonal roles.

From temporary sales assistants to bar staff and even playing Elf – these are some the jobs already available.

Christmas casual at the Royal Mail

Every year, and not unexpectedly, the postal service is the hub of a lot of activity as everyone rushes to get Christmas cards and parcels delivered before the big deadline.

In order to successfully keep up with demand, the company hire a number of casual workers to work in their Manchester mail centre on Oldham Road, as well as other locations.

Activities on the job will include sorting letters and packages.

The advertisement says: “Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you will help to deliver Christmas to everybody in the UK! Flexible and adaptable at all times, you will be doing a very important job.

“You’ll be helping us unload mail and parcels from our vans, moving them around our warehouses and then sorting them so they arrive at their destination safely – sometimes sorting over a million items in a single shift with your team!”

The pay rates are listed range from £9.50 an hour for day shifts up to £11.21 for night shifts.

Christmas worker at the Post Office

Just like with the Royal Mail, the Post Office is another busy place over the Christmas period.

They are looking for people to work in their Manchester Crown Office and Salford City Crown Office to help customers get their daily posting tasks done.

The contract for the role will begin on November 4 and end on December 21 2019 with pay rates around £9 an hour.

The ad says: “Using your customer service experience and excellent skills in handling customer enquiries, you will work collaboratively with the branch team to greet our customers, build a good rapport and take the time to understand their needs.

“You will have a good knowledge of our products and services and will be able to provide the right advice to our customers as well as assisting them with our Self Service Kiosks.”

Christmas team at Debenhams

Debenhams at the Trafford Centre is looking for temporary staff to help keep their busy department store in check over the festive season.

They are recruiting for staff in its sales department and say they need people who are “always ready to help, always willing to go the extra mile and all with a friendly smile, means our customers will leave with a lasting impression for all the right reasons.”

There are various shifts available with pay at £8.21 per hour for over-21s.

Christmas elf or Father Christmas at Spindles Shopping Centre

Nothing says Christmas more than dressing up as an Elf or Santa Claus, right?

Well with this job, you can actually get paid for it.

Great Grottos is looking for a Christmas Elf and Father Christmas to take up a position at Spindles Shopping Centre in Oldham throughout November and December.

To be Santa’s helper, the successful festive character will be responsible for greeting families upon arrival, preparing children to meet Santa, helping Santa throughout his visit and to prepare ticket sales and photography souvenirs.

It’ll might not be the same Elf but you get the idea

And for the main man himself, recruits need to be aged 28 or over.

Server at All Star Lanes

The bowling lane, restaurant and bar is getting prepared for the busy Christmas season by hiring a server at its Deansgate site.

The ideal candidate will need to be able to work efficiently under pressure and have experience as a waiter or waitress.

Pay for the role is between £9 and £10 an hour  plus benefits including free bowling and 50% discount on food & drinks for you and your family & friends.

Retail Sales Assistant at John Lewis

John Lewis is looking for staff to help “make the difference this Christmas” and be part of the “festive magic” at the department store.

Again, its an extremely busy time of year for the store so they say candidates can expect no two days to be the same as they help customers get prepared for the big day.

John Lewis at the Trafford Centre is hiring

Full and part-time roles are available and pay ranges from £8.40 to £10.50 dependant on skills and experience.

The advert says that the earliest start date for the available roles is October 28th 2019 with an end date expected to be in early January 2020.

Christmas Sales Assistants at Typo

Stationary store Typo is on the hunt for people to help out at their Trafford Centre store between November 4 2019 and January 5 2020.

The temporary sales assistant will need to be as flexible as possible and be available to work weekends.
