The Royal Mail is currently recruiting for numerous temporary Christmas jobs across the North West, including Preston, Cheshire and Warrington.
Christmas is always a busy time for the postal service, and as this year is set to be as busy as ever, so the postal service is hiring temporary workers to help with the festive rush.
What jobs are Royal Mail recruiting for?
Mail Sorters are being recruited at sites across the region, with Mail Processor roles also available at the regional hub in Warrington.
The Mail Sorter role wage varies from £8.72 to £9.40 per hour and each of the Mail Centres offer a range of shifts. No previous experience is needed.
The Royal Mail website says, “Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you will help to deliver Christmas to everybody in the UK! Flexible and adaptable at all times, you will be doing a very important job.
“You’ll be helping us unload mail and parcels from our vans, moving them around our warehouses and then sorting them so they arrive at their destination safely – sometimes sorting over a million items in a single shift with your team!”
The skill and experience ‘wishlist’ for Mail Sorters includes:
• You enjoy working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Being proactive and detailed focused is key
• You are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift
• You are able to push trolleys (up to 250kg) and lift and move mail bags up to 11kg
• Standing for long periods is comfortable for you
You will be able to select the shift patterns suitable for you when you apply, with most centres offering early shifts, lates, nights and weekends.
Roles are currently available at the Preston Mail Centre, Chester Mail Centre and Warrington Mail Centre. To apply for this role visit the Royal Mail careers website.

What is a Mail Processor?
Royal Mail is also recruiting for Christmas Casual Mail Processors at the North West Hub, which is located in Warrington.
The website says, “If you are 18 years of age or over, are punctual, reliable and have a flexible approach, you are the type of person we’re looking for.”
Processing of mail takes place in the Regional Distribution Centres (RDC) and includes mail consolidation, parcel processing, bulk mail processing and the processing of mail order returns.
RDCs are 24 hour per day, seven day per week operations and the role involves working as part of a team to achieve tight deadlines.
The salary ranges from £9.60 to £12.30 per hour. Shift patterns are lates, nights and various weekend shift patterns.
