Christmas jobs now on offer at Leeds Royal Mail centre

Royal Mail is looking for casual workers in Leeds to help with the busiest time of the year – Christmas!

Across the UK, the company hires thousands of extra staff for the festive season to process the tidal wave of parcels, letters and cards coming into the its mail centres.

Royal Mail’s Leeds Mail Centre, in Leodis Way, Hunslet, is advertising Christmas jobs with a range of working hours available. Early, late, night and weekend shifts need to be filled, on a first-come-first-served basis.

The advert says: “Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you will help to deliver Christmas to everybody in the UK! Flexible and adaptable at all times, you will be doing a very important job.

“You’ll be helping us unload mail and parcels from our vans, moving them around our warehouses and then sorting them so they arrive at their destination safely – sometimes sorting over a million items in a single shift with your team!”

What Royal Mail are looking for

  • You enjoy working to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Being proactive and detailed focused is key
  • You are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift
  • Pushing trolleys (up to 250kgs) and standing for long periods is comfortable for you
  • No previous experience is needed
  • Experience in warehouse or sorting work, with the likes of Amazon or another distribution company a bonus but not essential

Pay

The roles offer pay of £9.50 per hour (days) to £11.21 per hour (nights).

How to apply

Visit the Royal Mail website to apply.

On your application you will be able to pick which shift you would prefer, from earlies (6am-2pm), lates (2pm-10pm), nights (10pm-6am)  and weekends (various hours).

There may also be part time roles available.

Preferred shifts are not guaranteed and offered on a first come first served basis. Shift times may change subject to workload.

If successful, you will be invited to attend a Royal Mail registration event – these events get fully booked quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment,

If you are registered with Angard for work with Royal Mail, you don’t need to apply for Christmas Casual work.  You can speak to your Angard representative via the website for more information.

If you are under 18 you are not legally allowed to work night shifts.
