Visitors are greeted with a modern reception space at Citadines Islington
What do you get when you mix a serviced apartment with the vibes of a hotel, in the north of central London and located near the city and Camden, with easy access to the Underground? Citadines Apart’hotel Islington London. We took a trip to the capital to see what all of the fuss was about…
Stepping into the building, it became abundantly clear that modernisation was at the heart of the residence. Despite this, the architecture still pays homage to what came before it; a history of it serving as a Royal Mail postal sorting office during the Edwardian period. There are pictures from that time and various other throwbacks, and guests are even given a couple of postcards that they can address to anywhere in the world and pop into the golden post box in reception, with Citadines picking up the costs. It’s a stunning and personal touch, unlike anything else I’ve ever come across on my travels around the country.
Check-in was an easy and quick turnaround. Our friendly receptionist made sure that our room was ready for arrival and gave us simple instructions on where to find the 1-Bedroom Deluxe, as well as the gym facilities and complimentary refreshments on the ground floor. Every member of staff we met across the day and night we spent at Citadines Apart’hotel Islington London was a real asset to the team. No request was too much to ask and every effort was made to ensure we felt like valued guests at all times.
The apartment itself, up on the fourth floor, was absolutely beautiful. A master bedroom was separated from the rest of the rooms, including a television, king-size bed (or two singles if you prefer), wardrobes and a safe to allow for peace of mind whilst you explore. Access to the bathroom was just outside the bedroom; it was a comfortable size with a powerful walk-in shower, along with plenty of towels to ensure you wouldn’t run out during your stay. Then there was the kitchen and living room area, the latter of which could be transformed into a sizeable second bedroom if there were more than two guests staying the night.
A variety of different rooms are available
Décor throughout the apartment matched up with the rest of the residence, which allowed a feeling of almost being at home. You can’t ask for much more when you’re looking for a comfortable place to stay, somewhere that you may not regularly travel to.
The location is also a bit of a hidden gem, with the building itself nestled in Islington Square. There are plenty of places to visit, including bars and restaurants, all within short walking distance. You feel as though you’ve found something really special, and it feels like it’s an exclusive little hideaway just for a few dozen of the luckiest London visitors.
Absolutely somewhere I would recommend and will be returning to in the near future!
The living space is fresh and vibrant
