Cleaning guru shares easiest way to make air fryer look as good as new

As temperatures start to increase and the nights become brighter, many people will be turning their attention to their spring cleaning checklists.

This has inspired one cleaning guru to share her go-to technique to deep clean her air fryer without spending hours scrubbing and splashing grease all over her kitchen worktops.

In a TikTok video, user @cleaningwithida, has shared a three-item method to make your air fryer look as good as new for another season.

To start, all you need to do is boil the kettle, pour the hot water into the drawers of your air fryer and pour this away down the sink. This helps to loosen up any dirt, grime or burnt food stuck to the bottom of your drawers.

Next, she simply adds dish soap and baking soda inside each drawer before filling them about 80% full of boiling water. At this point, she recommends setting an alarm for 15 to 30 minutes to let the mixture work its ‘magic’. Following this, providing the water is now cool enough to touch without hurting yourself, you can “rinse well and scrub, if needed”.

She says to “wipe down the exterior and the interior of your air fryer” before reusing it now it’s looking as good as new. Commenting on her clips, one user said: “I’m so glad I bumped into this.” Another user added: “I put the tray in the dishwasher after each use, I’m not motivated if it’s too encrusted.”

A third user said: “I love your videos so much, never stop.” One more user added: “A tip would be: wipe off the grease with a paper towel and then wash with a sponge, water, and soap. It makes the job easier.” Sharing their own “lazy hack”, another user said: “Just a hack! I use tin foil when using the air fryer so when I’m done after it cools I just remove the foil and it’s clean! Lazy hack for everyone.”

In another video, Ida shows her followers how to deep clean their washing machine using only an electric scrubber, which look similar to an electric toothbrush, and The Pink Stuff bathroom foam. Sharing her step-by-step guide, she says: “Always leave the door and detergent tray open after each wash. One. Empty the drain pump and remove the filter. Two. Clean the filter compartment. Three. Remove the detergent tray.

“Four. Soak the filter and tray in soapy water. Five. Scrub and rinse both well. Six. Clean the detergent compartment. Seven. Clean the rubber door seal with white vinegar, or use a commercial mould remover, if needed. Eight. Wipe the door. Nine. Reinsert the tray and filter once dry. 10. Wipe the exterior. 11. Run two separate hot cycles: one with white vinegar, then another with baking soda.”
