Co-op, Aldi and Post Office all fall victim to same ‘blight on businesses’

He stole goods worth £700

A prolific shoplifter stole items worth £700 from three shops in the same time. Jake William Campbell has been described a ‘blight on businesses’ after he repeatedly targeted stores in Leek.

North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard the 35-year-old carried out thefts at the Co-op in West Street, Aldi and the Post Office on High Street. It is believed he took more than £700-worth of goods during this time between August and October.

He already had been served an order which banned him from entering the first two stores, which he breached on four separate occasions during the thefts.

Campbell, of Leek, pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft from a shop and four counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a sentencing date which is yet to be set.

PC Naomi Kramarczyk, from the Moorlands local policing team, said: “We’re working proactively every single day to act against those blighting local communities and businesses across Staffordshire, and this is another example of that.

“By taking a problem solving approach, we’ve been increasing our patrols and footprint around retailers, making sure concerns are responded to effectively and prolific offenders are brought to justice.”
