Police stations are supplied with cleaning tools in house however the rise in demand meant Eccles police station was running low on stock and would have to wait for as long as a week for replacements.

Over a ‘100’ items were donated to the station

The station had run out of anti-septic and alcohol wipes used to clean offices and Road Policing cars as well as disinfectant, alcohol spray, gloves and hand gel.

“Everyone in GMP is working really hard to get the supplies in, its just that the supplies are so in demand that we had to think outside the box.” Sgt Lawrence told the Manchester Evening News.

“The community reaction from Salford and Manchester has been fantastic we can’t thank them enough really.

“It’s opened up other doors, with people telling us where we can get refills for hand gels in chemists and stuff and like that.

“The only think I can say is thank you very much to the people of Manchester and to Salford in particular around Irlam and Eccles were we’re based.”
