Cornwall travel delays: A30 Chiverton to Carland, Truro and Newquay

If you thought Cornwall’s traffic jams may have eased now the schools have gone back think again.

There are currently long delays and heavy traffic on the A30, the A39 and the A3075 Newquay Road this morning, which have been made worse following a crash.

The two-vehicle collision has taken place on the A39 between Trispen and the Penmount Crematorium near Polwhele, just outside of Truro.

Traffic is queuing in both directions and delays should be expected.

Police have confirmed the incident was between a car and a Royal Mail post van, with potentially three casualties, including two pensioners.

It has also meant the road coming into Truro from St Austell Street is very busy, with congestion reported along the A390 Tregolls Road from Arch Hill to Tresillian.

One of the worst hit areas this morning has been the A30 at Three Burrows, where there has been queueing traffic on the A30 Eastbound from the A390 Chiverton Cross roundabout to the A39 Carland Cross roundabout.

Travel time for that stretch of single carriageway was around 45 minutes at 11.30am and remains around 30 minutes for the journey.

A three-year project to dual this nine-metre stretch of road is due to begin towards the end of this month.

There is also slow traffic on the A3075 Newquay Road eastbound from Perranzabuloe to Bridge Road at Goonhavern.

Travel time for this journey is around 15 minutes.

And in Truro, the A39 at Tregolls Road is showing heavy traffic northbound from the Trafalgar Roundabout on the B3284 at St Austell Street to the A390 Union Hill.
