A LERWICK man who assaulted a woman in the town in a case of mistaken identity by striking her on the body and causing her to stumble onto a road has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
James Robert Wishart, of Norstane, pled guilty to the offence which took place on 10 February at North Road. Wishart was on bail at the time.
The 41-year old also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner when he brandished a hammer, uttered threats and smashed a number of windows at an address in Lerwick on 26 January this year.
Sheriff Robert Mcdonald fined him £400 plus a £20 victim surcharge for this offence.
FINDING a wallet in a street proved to be too much for a Lerwick man who couldn’t resist the temptation of going on a shopping spree.
At Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday, Thomas Hall pleaded guilty by letter to charges of finding a wallet without attempting to discover its true owner, and then embarking on a fraudulent scheme.
The court heard that the 37-year old, of Hillgrind, Lerwick, spent a total of £103 in a number of local shops.
Sheriff Robert Mcdonald fined Hall £300 and also ordered him to pay £103 in compensation.
A MAN from Tingwall was delivering mail to Royal Mail was fined £500 at the court in Lerwick for overloading his delivery van.
Procurator fiscal told Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday that Robert Leask’s van weighed 4,400 kilos on 16 October at Commercial Street when only a gross weight of 3,500 kilos was permitted.
Thirty-one year old Leask pleaded guilty to the charge by letter.
