Covid-19 claims another life in East Renfrewshire

Another life has been lost to Covid-19 in East Renfrewshire.

Latest figures released by National Records of Scotland (NRS), covering the week ending November 6, show the total number of deaths in the area since the pandemic began two-and-a-half years ago has risen to 313.

It is the fourth week in a row that East Renfrewshire’s coronavirus death toll has increased.

Across Scotland as a whole, 20 of the 32 council areas had at least one fatality involving coronavirus last week as the death toll rose by 45, pushing the overall total up to 16,004.

Worst hit was Glasgow, which had seven deaths, followed by North Lanarkshire, which had five.

The figures released by NRS cover all fatalities where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
