Covid in Scotland: Vaccine centres beg for patients as letters get lost | Scotland

Vaccination centres have gone days without administering jabs after appointment cards were lost in the post.

The situation has been so bad that staff in the Lothians were reportedly sent “to go out and drum up support from police stations or anywhere else” to prevent the vaccines going to waste.

Daniel Johnson, a Labour MSP in Edinburgh, said that it was now clear that “there had been a major problem” with the official blue letters sent to people aged between 60 and 64.

He said that as a result the regional health board made pleas on social media for people to call and find out whether they had an appointment.
