Crash shuts major road near Leicestershire border – as it happened

The A14 near Catthorpe Interchange was completely shut westbound this morning, causing congestion throughout the area. The eastbound A14 was also slow following the crash, whilst queues on the westbound side had reached eight miles long by 8.30am today (Wednesday, December 11).

National Highways said in a post on X this morning: “The #A14 westbound between J1 (Welford) and M1/M6 (Catthorpe Interchange), traffic has been STOPPED due to a collision. There is currently approx. 7 miles of congestion on approach, causing delays of 50 minutes above usual journey times.”
