Following England Cricket’s historic World Cup win on Sunday, Royal Mail has unveiled a completed, special edition white and gold postbox at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, London, to honour the England Cricket team’s historic victory.

Representing both England and Wales, this is the first time that the England Men’s and Women’s teams have held both the ICC Cricket World Cup winners’ titles simultaneously. The postbox pays tribute to the achievements of both teams. Lord’s was the site of both victories.

 The plaque reads:

This postbox celebrates ICC Cricket World Cup victories for the England Men’s cricket team on 14 July, 2019 and the England Women’s cricket team on 23 July, 2017, both finals taking place at Lord’s.

It is accompanied by the following message on the box:

Congratulations England Cricket! ICC Cricket World Cup Champions

This is one of 15 special edition postboxes that Royal Mail is decorating to mark these historic victories. The other postboxes will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
