Criminals jailed in November including rapist and man who sent suspicious packages

November has seen some serious crimes heard in the courts, with the Joshua Hall verdict, the alleged rape of an elderly resident and fraudsters posing as police officers to target pensioners.

There was also the conviction of a man for a horrific historic rape case, three decades after the crime was committed.

While these cases are awaiting verdicts or sentences, other criminals are already behind bars having been jailed this month.

People with links to the local area were locked for everything from postal theft to sending bomb threats to Kim Jong-un.

Our communities are a little bit safer without these men on the streets – below you will find a brief summary of some of their cases:

Man obsessed by Covid jailed

Anthony Collins was jailed after sending a suspicious package to a covid vaccine factory on Wrexham

Hailing from Kent, Anthony Collins was put away this month for sending suspicious packages around the country – including to RAF Fairford.

The 54-year-old covid-obsessive was handed a 27-month jail sentence for sending bomb hoaxes to 10 Downing Street, a vaccine manufacturing lab and the military airbase in Gloucestershire.

Collins is also said to have sent a suspicious package to Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea.

When the vaccine lab received Collins’ suspicious package, it brought production to a halt while the package was investigated.

The judge called Collins’ defence that he was trying to help people as “childish and quite perverse.”

Child killer back in prison

Colin Pitchfork was jailed for 30 years after killing two teenage girls, Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth

Infamous child murderer Colin Pitchfork was recalled to prison in Gloucestershire this month after reportedly approaching young women.

Pitchfork, who was released two months ago, spent 33 years in prison for his horrific rape and murder of two 15 year olds in the 1980s.

He was recalled over “concerning behaviours” that reflected his original crime, primarily that of approaching young women as they are out walking.

Pitchfork had 35 conditions attached to his release, including electronic tagging and a ban on contact with children.

He will be eligible for parole within 18 months.

Man jailed for rape

Daniel Jones

A repeated rapist from Worcestershire was sentenced to 17 years in prison after two victims came forward to police.

Daniel Jones, 28, gained the confidence of his victims over social media before meeting them in person and raping them.

The two victims who came forward place his crimes within a year of each other, as such, police are asking for any other victims of Jones to come forward.

Detective Constable Carl Shenton said: “I would like to thank the victims for coming forward and giving their evidence, as well as the bravery they have shown in doing so.

“Hopefully this sentence will offer them some sort of closure and allow them to move forward with their lives.”

Former Royal Mail worker’s theft

A thief from Gloucester with a taste for designer sportswear was jailed earlier this month.

Alan Orzechowski, 27, of Clement Street, Gloucester, 'breached the public trust in the countrys postal system' when he stole sportsgear including Reebok and Adidas items from a depot.
Alan Orzechowski, 27, of Clement Street, Gloucester, ‘breached the public trust in the countrys postal system’ when he stole sportsgear including Reebok and Adidas items from a depot.

Alan Orzechowski, 27, stole multiple pairs of Adidas trainers, a Calvin Klein bra as well as 19 other items from the postal service between March and August 2020.

The former Royal Mail worker was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for selecting designers brands from his place of work and selling them onto his friends and family.

The judge said: “People rely on safe and secure postal service and in my opinion this offending is so serious that only a prison sentence can be justified.

“I am unable to suspend this sentence.”
