Crowdfunding to help fund the family in either of the outcomes Andrew (mainy) is facing. on JustGiving

I am writing this to try and help and support the family of Andrew main (mainy/andy.) as Andrews condition has now deteriorated. The family are now at a point where they need to plan for what is now in the near future. The reason for putting this up just now is so that the family have some sort of financial help in either of the scenarios they have now been given. These are now andrew living a life with severe disabilities or in the heartbreaking case that he doesnt wake up and the conversation of the life support being switched off. This is all dependant on the latest MRI scan as the sedation has been off for 48 hours now and he has not show any signs of waking up. This is day 24 since the attack

this is andrew/Mainys story. Andrew is a 33 year old father of 2 who was working away in swansea doing freelance festival work – which he loved. On wednesday 17th june andrew seen a young collegue of his being attacked by 2 men, we all know andrew and how heroic he is so he went out to help the young boy. This has ended horrificaly for andrew as he has now been left in critical condition and left with significant brain damage – at the very least.

Andrew spent the first 2 weeks in intensive care in the university hospital of wales (known locally as heath hospital) in this time as much as we knew the severity of what was going on we still had hope and tried to remain as positive as possible. Andrew has since been transferred to Edinburgh royal hospital on friday 2nd aug. however After a heartbreaking meeting with his consultant on tuesday 6th august we were told that after the last MRI the outcomes for andrew are now if he wakes up he would be living life with disabilities and if he doesnt wake, then the talk would be had about machines being turned off.

its heartbreaking enough but feel we need to add that andrew and his sisters (sharon &nikki) lost their mum in a similar way, with a brain haemorrhage, also in edinburgh. Andrew was only 11 years old when he went through this and anyone who knows andrew will know how greatly this affected him. This is obviously very traumatic and triggering for the whole family They also lost thier dad just 4 years later, and in more recent years their grand parents. Andrew also recently suffered the loss of one of his best friends, which totally devastated him. So as far as immediate family go andrew has a young daughter age 6 , a young son age 4, two sisters, nieces and nephews. Although feel its important to add that andrew is very well known and has a great group of friends who have been more like brothers and sisters over the years

many people have offered help and it hasnt gone unnoticed. as you can imagine this is why i feel the need to try and take some pressure off in any way possible. If this means not having to worry about money in either of the scenarios they will have to deal with, then im sure we would all like to do what we can to help.
