Story
I’ve spent the last four days on the neonatal unit at Hull Royal Infirmary after welcoming our first son Elijah into the world. He’s doing great and is recovering fast, and the nurses on NICU have been bloody FANTASTIC. I’d like to find a way to thank them while making the lives of parents spending time on the ward slightly easier.
There’s a room on the ward for parents with newborns (Parent’s Room) that would massively benefit from food donations. There are basic cooking facilities in the kitchen (microwave, toaster) but there’s not much in there in terms of stock right now.
For parents with new babies in NICU, most of which are undergoing a lot of care, the last thing they want to worry about is feeding themselves late at night if they’re staying in one of the rooms there, especially if they’re based outside of the city.
I’m aiming to raise as much money as possible to get the kitchen fully stocked and to hopefully get a freezer in there for more meals for parents.
Any money that doesn’t go on food will be used to purchase supplies for newborns from the NICU Amazon wishlist that will benefit the newborns, parents and nurses on the ward.
Thank you.
