Wiltshire village post office opens its doors for 2022
Last updated 1 hour ago
Lover’s special pop up post office has returned to the Wiltshire village once again along with the aptly named Darling café.
The community resurrected the village post office in 2017 to enable romantics to get Valentine Day cards stamped with the unique cache postmark.
Since then thousands of cards stamped with ‘sent from Lover’ have made their way across the world!
This year’s campaign once again encourages people to broaden the appeal of Valentine’s Day and ‘send a little love‘ to those they may have missed during the pandemic.
The post office is located in the Old School which has been renovated thanks to money raised through the campaign.
Royal Mail have again sponsored the special service and have decorated a post box in the village with a selection of hearts.
Nick Gibbs, Chair of the Lover Community Trust, said:
“Over the last 5 years, the Lover Valentine Post has put smiles on over 15,000 faces around the world. The Lover Valentine Post epitomises what can be done through community friendships. We are a small village with big ambitions to send a little love, everywhere. Love is a wonderful thing and with the help of Royal Mail we are sending it around the world.”
David Gold, Director of External Affairs & Policy at Royal Mail, commented:
“Royal Mail is proud to continue to play a part in the charming Valentine’s service that Lover village provides each year. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to let that special someone know how much you love them. Royal Mail continues to play the very important role we have of delivering cards, letters and gifts across the UK.”
You can visit the Lover Post Office up until the 14th February or you can order online lover.org.uk- details of the opening for the Darling Cafe can also be found on the website too.
