Curry’s has ditched Royal Mail as its delivery provider amid a series of Christmas strikes at the firm.
As first reported by The Telegraph and since confirmed by Curry’s CEO Alex Baldock on BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg Show, the retailer is to stop using Royal Mail to deliver its products “for now”.
Baldock revealed Royal Mail handled “relatively few” of its “smaller parcels” and that the business was “easily switchable” to another provider.
The news comes as Royal Mail is facing six days of strikes this month, including the 9, 11, 14, 15, 23 and 24 December and follows a series of strikes during the summer as its workers called for a 11% wage increase in step with inflation.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We have been clear with the CWU [Communication Workers Union] that industrial action undermines the trust of our customers. We operate in a competitive market, and our customers have choices. Continued strike action will force our customers to make those choices sooner rather than later.
“Strike action has already cost our people £1,000 each and is putting more jobs at risk. The money allocated to the pay deal should be going to our people, but it risks being eaten away by the costs of further strike action.”
