The Station Road postal hub, serving Eastriggs, Gretna, and a vast rural area, was visited at dawn by David Mundell, the Dumfriesshire MP, and his son Oliver, the constituency MSP.
Mr Mundell said: “Despite the changing landscape in technology and deliveries, Royal Mail and our posties have a special place in communities and our national culture.”
The duo were briefed by delivery manager Martyn Thompson on the increasing importance of parcel deliveries.
They met postman Eddie Shipley, originally from Florida, who said: “I like the job.
“It suits me very well.
“It has been good getting to know so many friendly people when I’m out on my deliveries.”
