An 8-year-old girl from Somerset, England, wrote a letter addressed to “God, Cloud 9, Heaven” after her parents refused to let her adopt another dog. Frustrated, she stormed off to her bedroom and returned an hour later with an envelope. Determined, she walked up the road and mailed it herself. The girl didn’t expect anyone to respond, but she was hoping for a little bit of magic to come her way.
Six months later, the family was surprised when a typed letter arrived in a prepaid Royal Mail envelope with no return address or postage markings. The note read: “God has told me to tell you he hears every prayer and answers them at the right time.”
The girl was overjoyed, and her mother said she “loved the mystery behind it,” adding that it was nice for her daughter to have her letter answered.
Who Sent The Letter?
As per The Newsweek, the mother believes the reply likely came from a kind worker at a Royal Mail sorting centre in Northern Ireland, where staff often handle letters addressed to unusual places, such as Santa Claus, heaven, or other fantastical destinations.
Praising the anonymous person’s thoughtfulness, she told The Newsweek it was “a beautiful reminder that people are still doing it, going out of their way to make a child’s day.” Small acts of kindness, she added, can stay in memory forever.
Encouraging Words For The Girl
The typed letter also praised the girl for her love of dogs and encouraged her to continue learning about animals, suggesting she might consider working with them in the future.
The mother said she was touched by the thought and effort put into the reply. “It would also be awesome if the person who wrote the letter read it and knew the importance of their work,” she told The Newsweek.
She also noted that in today’s socially distant world, it is heartwarming to know some people still take the time to create joy in small, meaningful ways.
