Photos show damage to the brickwork of the box on Quebec Road, with mystery surrounding who is responsible for its maintenance.
Conal O’Donnell, who lives nearby, described it as “symptomatic of falling standards of maintenance”.
He added: “It was first reported in January 2025, but I believe the damage was before that, maybe even several months prior.
“It’s very worrying that it’s been ignored. The culture of letting this facility exist like this is disgraceful.

“I’ve never seen anyone collect the mail from the box. It looks dangerous, ill-used and neglected.”
Mr O’Donnell said that he previously used the post box to send postcards, but now doesn’t trust it.
When contacted, the Royal Mail said the brickwork was likely the responsibility of Dereham Town Council, which denied and said it was the landowner’s.
Another resident commented: “If we actually knocked it off onto the pavement something might be done”, while a third person said it was “clearly a failed repair”.
