Director dealings: Boohoo executives buy shares amid controversy

Online retailer Boohoo revealed on Thursday that multiple directors had upped their stake in the AIM-listed group that same day.

Chairman Mahmud Kamani snapped up 5.0m ordinary shares in the firm at an average price of 214.28p each for a total of £10.7m, while co-founder Carol Kane purchased 2.0m ordinary shares for a total of £4.28m.

Boohoo shares fell on Monday on the back of a raft of negative press coverage around the poor work conditions at the embattled fashion brand’s manufacturing operations in Leicester.

The company’s shares continued to plunge throughout the week on allegations that factories in its supply chain paid illegally low wages and forced workers to work during the Covid-19 lockdown without protection. Boohoo tried to distance itself from the factories involved and launched an independent review of its supply chain.

As of 1635 BST, Boohoo shares were up 11.29% at 233.70p.
