Do DPD and Evri deliver on Good Friday? How deliveries work on bank holiday as Royal Mail post stops

This weekend is Easter, which means that there are two bank holidays: Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Shop times change over bank holidays, as do bin dates, benefits payments and delivery slots.

If you have ordered a package or are expecting a card, you might have to factor in unexpected delivery times.

Is Royal Mail operating on Good Friday or Easter Monday?

There will be no Royal Mail postal collections or deliveries on Good Friday (7 April) or on Easter Monday (10 April).

However, post should operate as normal on Easter Saturday, before normal service resumes on Tuesday, 11 April.

This disruption applies to the whole of the UK, even though Easter Monday is not a bank holiday in Scotland.

The Royal Mail said: “We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays. However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on bank and public holidays.”

Parcelforce will not deliver any parcels on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Easter Monday.

Yodel

Yodel will not deliver any parcels on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Easter Monday.

What are the other bank holiday dates in 2023?

Bank holiday dates vary slightly across the UK: England and Wales always have the same bank holidays, but Scotland and Northern Ireland have some of their own dates.

For example, Scotland’s summer bank holiday falls at the start of August, rather than the end of the month.

All four nations used to mark the same date, following the implementation of the Bank Holidays Act of 1871, introduced by the Liberal politician, Sir John Lubbock.

However, the date for England, Wales and Northern Ireland moved permanently to the end of August in 1971, following a trial period that started in 1965.

For the first time since 2019, both Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be marked with bank holidays on the correct days, after falling on the weekend for three years in a row.
