Do Evri, Royal Mail and Amazon deliver on bank holidays?

Oh, bank holidays. Those rare – or, in the case of May 2023, not so rare since we’ve had three – treats where people are given a paid day off work.

Whether you’re spending today (May 29) relaxing at home, soaking up the warmer weather in the local park or hitting the shops to freshen up your summer wardrobe, it’s your day to do as you please.

For some, you might have recently ordered something online and wondering if it’ll be delivered today.

Rather than wasting your bank holiday waiting by the door for the postie, here’s the answer on whether they even deliver mail today…

Do Evri deliver on bank holidays?

For anyone hoping to get that last-minute outfit for the bank holiday, you might have to come up with a plan B – Evri (formerly Hermes) do not deliver on bank holidays.

Parcel2Go explains that, currently, ‘collections and deliveries are made by Evri between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday. Please note that this excludes bank holidays.’

Do Amazon deliver on bank holidays?

Amazon are a go-to for those last-minute essentials, usually delivering within a couple of days at the most.

However, even Amazon don’t deliver on bank holidays.

And that includes on their Prime One Day deliveries or Priority Delivery.

As per their website, One Day Delivery occurs ‘one business day after dispatch, including Saturdays, but not including public holidays.’

And Priority Delivery ‘occurs two business days after dispatch, including Saturdays, but not including public holidays.’

Will there be Royal Mail post today?

Royal Mail does not collect or deliver post on bank holidays.

The Royal Mail service update on their website confirms: ‘There will be no deliveries or collections of mail on Monday 29 May.’

For future reference, though, they explain that on the weekend before a bank holiday, ‘most of [their] Customer Service Points are open both Saturday and Sunday for you to collect urgent items’ if you’ve been left a For You card or missed a delivery earlier in the week.
