If you love online shopping, you’re probably ordering bits and pieces from your favourite stores throughout the week.
And for many who work away from home, a weekend delivery date is ideal for making sure you’re in to the answer the door.
But could your parcel arrive on a Sunday, which has traditionally been considered a ‘day of rest’ – as well as a day when in-person shops operate shorter opening hours?
Of course, every parcel company will have its own policy, but here’s what Royal Mail, Amazon and Evri (formerly Hermes) do.
Does Royal Mail deliver on Sundays?
Yes, Royal Mail will sometimes deliver scheduled packages on a Sunday.
On its website, the company says: ‘We aim to make one delivery every day, Monday to Saturday.
‘We also make some scheduled parcel deliveries on Sunday which can include deliveries in the evening.
‘We don’t usually deliver on bank public and local holidays.’
However, normal letters won’t be delivered on Sundays, so this appears to be for specific, scheduled deliveries of packages or parcels.
Don’t expect anything to arrive on a Sunday unless it’s been explicitly stated.
Does Amazon deliver on Sundays?
Amazon packages can indeed arrive on Sundays.
The online retailer notes on its website that ‘parcels to residential addresses may be delivered on a Sunday’ for a number of its delivery options.
According to Amazon, these are the Free Standard Delivery, One-Day Delivery and Premium Delivery, and Priority Delivery options.
Shoppers can also choose Same Day Delivery and Scheduled Delivery (For Large Items), which allow you to pick an available day and time slot for your item’s arrival.
Usually, when you order something from Amazon, it will show you your delivery options – and clearly state the day it’s due to arrive.
Does Evri deliver on Sundays?
Yes, it does appear that Evri delivers on Sundays.
In February, the company announced its first Sunday delivery service.
And the Evri website confirms that a Weekend Courier Delivery service is available, noting: ‘Our network of couriers work seven days a week – so if you’re expecting a weekend delivery, they’ll bring it to your door.’
Also available on Sundays are Evri’s lockers – which are available 24/7 and allow you to pick up a package in your own time, or send back unwanted items without too much hassle.
Many Evri parcel shops are also open seven days a week.
