Those who have not yet written their Christmas cards are being advised to get a move on as Royal Mail gears up for its busiest time of the year.
The service is urging customers to post their mail before the advertised last posting dates and not to wait until the deadline is upon them.
At a time that global coronavirus restrictions are in place, its message is ‘shop early, send early for Christmas’ so people can be sure that their loved ones receive their festive deliveries in time.
Here are the dates to note for those with domestic mail to post for Christmas.
Second Class mail – the last recommended posting date is Friday, December 18
First Class mail – the last recommended posting date is Monday, December 21
Anyone who misses these dates has the option of using a Special Delivery service up until Wednesday, December 23.
Customers are also reminded to make posties’ lives easier by writing their postal addresses clearly and to always include the full postcode.
The postage amount also must be correct to avoid any delays or extra charges for the recipient.
Full information, including on pricing, is available at local Post Office branches and on the Royal Mail website. See here.
