Dungeons And Dragons 50th Anniversary Stamp Collection Revealed By Royal Mail

Highlights

  • Dungeons And Dragons has teamed up with Royal Mail to create a stamp collection for the RPG’s 50th anniversary.
  • There are 14 stamps to collect – a main set of eight, and then six more that are part of a sticker sheet that come together to create a wider scene.
  • The stamps will be available to buy from July 25 in various bundles, including the option to buy bigger versions of the stamps to hang on your wall.

Dungeons And Dragons turns 50 this year. 50 years since the very first role players gathered around and embarked on an adventure, oblivious to the fact that millions more would be joining them in countless ways for the next five decades and counting. Naturally, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast have been celebrating the big 5-0 in as many ways as possible, the latest of which is a collection of stamps curated by Royal Mail.

The collection features 14 designs, 11 of which have never been seen before. Artist Wayne Reynolds is responsible for the images on all of them. Reynolds has worked on D&D games, handbooks, and guides for almost half of the RPG’s 50-year run, so suffice to say they know a thing or two about how the beasts, creatures, and backdrops in these stamp designs should look.

Eight of the 14 designs are dedicated to those beasts and creatures, each one featuring something synonymous with D&D. Among the inclusions is an owlbear – a creature Baldur’s Gate 3 fans will be very familiar with – a mindflayer, Vecna, and the all-consuming Gelatinous Cube. The other six stamps are part of a sheet, each of the images coming together to create a different scene that shows a brave party of adventurers embarking on a thrilling D&D journey.

If you want to own all or some of these D&D anniversary stamps, they will be available to buy through Royal Mail from July 25 and you’ve got some decisions to make between now and then as there are a lot of options. The Presentation Pack will likely be the most popular option as it includes the main set of eight stamps along with the sticker sheet of six for £24.40 ($31.42). There are other options both cheaper and more expensive, some of which include extra items like a presentation book and medal covers, or for £150 ($194) you can get a blown-up version of one of the stamp designs to hang on your wall.

Stamps are far from the first way D&D’s creators have indicated they want to ring in the RPG’s 50th birthday in style. Earlier this year it teamed up with Converse for an exclusive line of sneakers, even adding D&D options to Converse By You. Before that, the first-ever D&D Lego set was released. The Red Dragon’s Tale set includes three locations and a big red dragon, as the name implies, you can use to wreak havoc on all of them.
