Dunnet Bay Distillers to introduce recyclable pouches across entire range – plus a refill rewards scheme

The full portfolio of drinks from the Caithness distillery will now be available in recyclable pouches.

Dunnet Bay Distillers have launched recyclable pouches across their full portfolio, including Holy Grass vodka and Rock Rose gin.

The Highland distillery have also unveiled their ‘Refill Rewards Club’ – a sustainable gin subscription service.

After the successful launch of the recyclable and returnable Rock Rose gin pouches last September, Dunnet Bay Distillers have announced that the pouches will be used across their spirits range.

Refill rewards club

As well as this they are launching a ‘Refill Rewards Club’, a monthly subscription service of spirit pouches, where members will never have to worry about pouring the last drop from the bottle again.

Either monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly, members will receive a pouch of their choice of Rock Rose Gin or of Holy Grass Vodka, designed to refill the distillery’s ceramic bottles.

What’s more members will receive a selection of mixers, garnishes and a surprise gift in each delivery.

Members can change their pouch choice as often as they like – providing an opportunity to taste the full Dunnet Bay portfolio.

The Dunnet Bay recyclable pouches were the very first in the UK to have a partnership with Royal Mail, meaning they can be sent back to the distillery via freepost.

Once at the distillery, the pouches will be collected by a specialist recycling company and recycled into new items. To recycle, the pouches simply need to be popped into the post box – no stamp required.

With these new pouches, customers can easily refill the bottles at home, saving £4 per 700ml of gin, and meaning customers can use their Rock Rose Gin bottle for life.

Dunnet Bay Distillers, Scotland’s most northerly mainland distillery, handcraft spirits that celebrate the heritage and provenance of Caithness and pride themselves on using local hand-foraged botanicals.

Rock Rose Gin is the distillery’s multi award-winning signature spirit and features a carefully selected collection of local and traditional botanicals including juniper berries, rowan berries and sea buckthorn, with many of the botanicals hand-foraged from the local cliffs and forest.

Also now in pouches are their special seasonal editions, a Old Tom Pink grapefruit gin, plus Holy Grass vodka.

Spirit fans can choose to become a SuperFan (£30/ monthly), Appreciators(£ 30/ bi-monthly) or a Sipper (£30/ quarterly) to get access to exclusive benefits, which include:

  • A refill pouch (700ml) with a box of goodies
  • Free delivery and free return postage of the pouch
  • Unlimited switch bonuses – switch to another pouch at any time
  • Priority access to limited edition spirits before they go on sale

The membership subscription can be updated at any time, and the boxes will be sent out the first week of the month.

Martin Murray, co-founder, Dunnet Bay Distillers, said: “We have such a loyal and dedicated following and wanted to create a subscription scheme that really rewards our fans with some special added extras.

“We also take sustainability incredibly seriously and having worked for over a year to perfect our first to market recyclable pouches, we thought the Refill Rewards Club would be a brilliant way of bringing them to more customers, so we can all do our bit for the environment. Not only are they fully recyclable but significant energy is also saved in the shipment.”

Each pouch in the range is also now available to buy individually, £30, from the Dunnet Bay Distillers website.
