East Midlands Airport announces eight-part documentary series ‘Mega Air’ to be broadcast on Dave

A new documentary series will air later this month starring East Midlands Airport.

The eight-part programme will show viewers behind the scenes of the airport’s 24-hour-a-day, 365 days a year operation.

Named Mega Air, the series that focuses on the airport’s cargo operation will air on Dave.

East Midlands Airport has been chosen for the starring role as it is one of the busiest dedicated cargo airports in the UK, second only to Heathrow.

Companies such as DHL, FedEx and Royal Mail are based at the airport and many others operate flights from there.

The filming took place between October 2018 and March this year and featured key members of the East Midlands Airport team as they carried out their duties.

As a snapshot into the programme, viewers can expect to see how wildlife on the airfield is controlled, a fire training drill and overnight runway repairs.

Ioan Reed-Aspley, spokesperson for East Midlands Airport, said: “We’re really proud to be a key focus of Mega Air.

“From the moment the producers first saw the cargo operation they were sold on the idea of filming at EMA.

Things to look forward to

“The mix of traffic coming in and out of the airport combined with the scale of the operation really appealed to them.

“This documentary brings to life some of the daily challenges that our dedicated team face keeping the 24-hour operation running ensuring that both people and goods can fly in and out every day of the year.”

The series will start on Dave at 2pm on Saturday October 26.
