eBay: Beatrix Potter 50p coin with error selling for £25,000

The Royal Mint produced almost 20,000,000 Peter Rabbit 50ps in 2017.

They were part of a series commemorating the famous children’s author Beatrix Potter.

As there are so many of them in circulation, they are not generally considered rare and are worth a few pounds at most.

But one eagle-eyed collector – who lives in Dereham – quickly noticed theirs looked different from the rest.

As the listing explains, there is a bizarre “lump of metal” stuck to one of the character’s feet.

It does not appear on any of their other Peter Rabbit 50ps.

Knowing that coins with imperfections can sell for drastically more than face value, they took a chance and listed it on eBay for a whopping £25,086.72.

They are also asking for £8.95 for postage and returns are not accepted.
