eBay UK Automates Country Of Origin Data, Helping Sellers Avoid US Blocks In Global Shipping Programme

eBay is rolling out automated tools that will fill in Country of Origin information to help keep more listings eligible for Global Shipping Programme to the US after the end of the de minimis exemption in August.

Global Shipping from the UK to US was temporarily paused back in May as eBay struggled to keep up with constantly changing tariffs and was re-enabled for “select listings” in July with sellers being told to make sure they enter Country of Origin/ Manufacture Item Specifics to increase the odds of being eligible.

But President Trump’s executive order putting an abrupt end to the de minimis exemption on August 29, 2025 threw the Global Shipping Programme into even more chaos as postal service acrosss the globe, including Royal Mail, temporarily stopped all outbound parcels to the US while they worked to implement new programs to comply with requirements for parcels to be sent Delivery Duties Paid.

Now that international couriers have systems in place, eBay is ready to open the Global Shipping Programme back up to the US, but items will still need to have Country of Origin information filled in to assess the correct duties and ensure compliant shipments – and for those sellers who have not yet provided CoO information manually, eBay is rolling out an automated tool to help.

Reach US buyers again through the Global Shipping Programme

We know recent US import regulations have been challenging, so we’re happy to share some good news: many of your listings are now visible to US buyers again through the Global Shipping Programme (GSP).

To make this possible, we’ve added Country of Origin (COO) to listings where reliable information is available. Country of Origin is essential for determining duties, taxes, and import fees, and is required for items to reach US buyers through the Global Shipping Programme.

How it works
Where trusted data was available, we’ve already added COO information to your listings. Since you know your items best, we encourage you to add COO details directly in the Country/Region of Manufacture field — your entry will always override any eBay selection.

You may not see COO on all your listings right away, as updates are rolling out gradually. This process will also apply to new listings where data is available.

If you’d like to confirm whether your items are visible to US buyers, visit ebay.com, switch the buyer location to the US, and search using your item IDs. We’re working on a simpler way to do this in the future.

eBay says that coverage will expand over time, and in the coming months sellers will have more ways to view and manage COO information selected by eBay for their items.
