Elderly woman dies after being hit by Royal Mail van

AN ELDERLY woman who was hit by a Royal Mail post van has died.

The woman, who was in her 90s, was involved in a collision with a red post van in Birdwood in Hanham around 1pm on Friday, July 15.

The driver remained at the scene with the woman until emergency services arrived, who took her to hospital where she sadly died a week later.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who may have dashcam or doorbell footage of the collision.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam or doorbell footage after a woman sadly died following a collision in South Gloucestershire on Friday, July 15.

“We have informed the next of kin and they are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
