Electrical fire extinguished at Isle of Wight’s Royal Mail depot

AN ELECTRICAL fire was put out at the Royal Mail depot on Newport’s Riverway Industrial Estate this evening.

The IW Fire Service said Newport Fire Station sent a full station turnout utilising both engines, aerial ladder and command vehicle, however the fire was put out with just an extinguisher.

The firefighters used thermal imaging equipment to inspect the building and make it safe.

The incident happened at 6.05pm, but has now been stood down.
