A MENTAL health worker from Ellesmere Port has spoken out about a random act of kindness that brightened her day.
On Sunday, July 3, Lisa Fielding, 45, was visiting her local Royal Mail depot to pick up a parcel.
Mum of three Lisa, who works as a health care assistant in mental health, said she was having “one of those days” which was quickly resolved when the worker behind the desk decided to reach out.
Lisa told the Globe: “It was just my usual Sunday morning where I was slightly dishevelled in my mum kind of way.
“I didn’t mean to look miserable but when I went in and gave my card to the woman, she asked me if I was okay.
“When I responded saying I was fine she asked if I was sure and then I told her I was having one of those days.
“She looked at me and told me it was all going to be okay and that everything would be fine.”
The worker then brought back an unopened box of chocolate for Lisa and insisted that she took as many as she liked before continuing to chat with her.
Lisa said: “That gesture and those kind words just totally reset me for the day.
“I went in having one of those miserable days where everyone I was around was going to get my grumpy mood but after just a few words of kindness I was able to go back out and enjoy my day.”
Lisa said that after the exchange she was able to go back to her car and have a laugh with her children.
She said: “I went back to the kids and apologised to them for my earlier mood and said let’s start again.
“So, they also really benefited from her words as well because the positivity was passed on. Everything just improved.
“She didn’t have to do that as it’s not her job. She could have given me the parcel and not spoken to me at all but the fact she did is what made the big difference.
“For me, it was just a bad day, but I know there are others out there who could be having horrific days, and just having that human connection can make all the difference even if you don’t know it and never see the impact of it.
“Sometimes saying those few kind words to a stranger can turn everything around.”
