Her 2019 ended with a surreal car crash incident while her 2020 started with her mum being involved in a racism storm.
And Ellie Goulding, 33, grabbed some well-earned down time in a mystery sun-soaked location, taking to Instagram on Monday to say, ‘Took a second or two off last week.’
The star posed up a storm in a brown bandeau bikini, looking the picture of relaxation.
Moving on: Ellie Goulding, 33, grabbed some well-earned down time in a mystery sun-soaked location, taking to Instagram on Monday to share a bikini snap
The Love Me Like You Do songstress also displayed her enviable figure in the blissful snap,
She put her eventful month behind her as she smiled for the camera, completing her look with a pair of sunnies.
The star, who married art dealer Caspar Jopling in a lavish ceremony in York last summer, let her famous blonde locks hang loose as she reclined in a cosy outdoor chair, showing off her naturally pretty features with a face clear of makeup.
The relaxation-inducing snap comes after I’m A Celebrity’s Myles Stephenson accused her mother Tracey of racism amid a Twitter war on Friday.
It all started when Tracey tweeted off the back of the star’s appearance on Good Morning Britain: ‘Didn’t notice it so much on [the] jungle but what’s with #myles #gmb trying to sound like a black dude??’
You should be ashamed: I’m A Celebrity’s Myles Stephenson accused Ellie Goulding’s mum (left) of racism amid Twitter spat on Friday
Upsetting: It all started when Tracey shared this tweet after watching a TV appearance with Myles on GMB and he hit back
‘I’ll be sure to tell my “black” side of my family that I sound like them! They’ll be happy! 2020 and racism already starting.’
He shared a grab of her tweet and continued: ‘Say anything you want about my presenting ability but I will not tolerate racism one bit!
‘Especially when I’m just trying to brighten peoples day & ESPECIALLY when your saying that me & my ethnic background sound a certain way!’
Cross: Myles, whose father is Jamaican, said: ‘I’ll be sure to tell my ‘black’ side of my family that I sound like them! They’ll be happy! 2020 and racism already starting’
‘You should be ashamed! #FRacistPeople.’
It is not clear if Myles was aware that Tracey is Ellie’s mother at first, but his followers soon alerted him to the fact.
While Ellie herself has stayed mum on the subject, Tracey hastily apologised and asserted that she believes she is not a racist.
She wrote: ‘I’d like to apologise so much to you Myles and any upset it may have caused, I wrote something very childish I’m SO not racist, it was a flippant remark.
‘I will not tolerate racism’: Myles was furious and had this to say during the exchange
‘I feel so totally ashamed about doing, it was taken out of context please forgive x.’
Myles then wrote that it looked like Tracey had deleted her account and she wrote: ‘I have sent you a genuine apology, I have not deleted my account.
‘I am not racist at all, it was taken out of context.
Sorry: Ellie herself has stayed mum on the subject (stock photo of the singer with her mother)
‘I was childish’: Tracey hastily apologised for her earlier tweet and said it was ‘taken out of context’
‘This account doesn’t exist’: Tracey has since deleted her Twitter account following the exchange
‘If you want to use it and folk want to use it, by all means carry on. I have not racially abused anyone it’s a shame you think so.’
Tracey’s Instagram account is now private and she has deleted her Twitter account.
In December 2019, Ellie came to the rescue of a driver trapped in his car as it was being pushed along one of London’s busiest dual-carriageways by a Royal Mail truck.
The staggering footage captured in the lead up to Christmas showed the articulated truck pushing a Volkswagen GTi that is stuck sideways on its front grill and bumper.
In the dramatic incident, filmed on the westbound Western Ave stretch of the A40 in London, other vehicles can be heard honking their horns whilst driving alongside the delivery truck in a bid to save the driver trapped inside of the black car.
The Starry Eyed hitmaker is in the Range Rover driving alongside the terrifying collision, and has revealed her chauffeur Guy was attempting to get the trucker’s attention.
Goulding later posted about the incident, sharing the MailOnline’s story, calling the incident ‘the craziest thing I’ve ever seen on the road. Everyone was just driving past but my driver Guy stopped’.
She also added that she was shocked how the first thing most of the witnesses did was bring out their phones to record the incident, and then slam the Royal Mail driver.
‘I can’t believe the first instinct of the other drivers who got out was to instantly start filming on their phones and shout abuse at the poor shocked driver, not even checking the other driver was ok,’ she said.
The Royal Mail truck driver climbs down from his cab and can be heard yelling: ‘I didn’t see him! I honestly didn’t see him!’
‘Crazy’: Singer Ellie Goulding (left, at the scene) shared the news on her Instagram account, saying the traffic collision was the ‘craziest thing I’ve seen on the road’
The cameraman argues with the Royal Mail worker as he opens the door of the Volkswagen and the car driver can be heard saying: ‘You spun me round.’
The Royal Mail driver then says: ‘Let’s pull over and I can explain.’
With other motorists asking the man if he is okay, which he replies affirmatively and seems to be remarkably calm given the danger he’d just been in.
That is where the video ends, with TfL later reporting a traffic jam where it happened close to the Hanger Lane roundabout.
A police spokesperson said: ‘There were no reported injuries. Officers spoke with both parties. No arrests were made.’
Drama: The singer also posted to her story that she couldn’t believe that people had been filming the incident instead of helping
