Ex-Clydesdale Bank chief executive takes up Royal Mail role

Former Clydesdale Bank chief executive Lynne Peacock is to join the board of Royal Mail as a non-executive director in November.

Peacock, who has also served on the board at Standard Life Aberdeen and Scottish Water currently holds positions on the boards of Nationwide Building Society and Serco Group.

Royal Mail said her appointment “is a further step in refreshing and strengthening the board”. Chairman Keith Williams said: “I am delighted to welcome someone of Lynne’s calibre and experience to the Board. Lynne has had a distinguished career, including in regulated industries undergoing extensive transformation. I have no doubt that Royal Mail will benefit greatly from her experience.”

She will also take over the role as chair of the board’s remuneration committee.

Peacock stepped down as chief executive of the Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks in 2011 after seven years. She had previously been chief executive of the Woolwich and also worked in marketing at Tate & Lyle and Unilever.
