The Post Office is closed on bank holidays

The modern world is awash with important dates to remember and, while it’s tempting to leave posting letters and parcels until the last minute, you may need to be wary.

After the busy Christmas and New Year period, people can be fooled into thinking they can relax on the present- and card-front, but birthdays, bank holidays and other celebrations are soon upon them.

These special days often require a dedicated letter or gift, but the Royal Mail service is not always open. Therefore, it’s important for people to know exactly when they can send their special correspondence.

Here is the exact list of dates that the Post Office will be closed for in 2022 for the Royal Mail holidays.

Sadly, January 3, 2022, is the last bank holiday for a good while – in England, at least. Most Brits will have to wait until the Easter holidays on April 15, 2022, for another well-earned rest besides paid time off.

The delivery service does its best to provide year-round post, but even the Royal Mail needs some time off.

Their holidays are the same as Bank Holidays, which fall on the following dates in 2022:

  • Monday, January 3 – New Year’s Day bank holiday
  • Thursday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day (Northern Ireland only)
  • Friday, April 15 – Good Friday
  • Monday, April 18 – Easter Monday
  • Monday, May 2 – Early May Bank Holiday
  • Thursday, June 2 – Spring Bank Holiday
  • Friday, June 3 – Platinum Jubilee bank holiday
  • Monday, August 29 – Summer Bank Holiday
  • Monday, December 26 – Boxing Day
  • Tuesday, December 27 – Christmas Day
