Royal Mail has issued a delivery delay warning for letters and parcels to those living in specific postcodes across the UK
Everything you need to know as Royal Mail sends warning to households in certain postcodes that deliveries of letters and parcels are being held up.
- The postal giant issued a warning this week, admitting that some areas throughout the UK are struggling to maintain this service level owing to issues such as “high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors”.
- Royal Mail usually strives to deliver to every address six days a week but the firm said: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”
- The disruption is impacting several North East areas across Tyneside, Sunderland, Gateshead and Northumberland. There are 146 postcodes across the UK which are currently experiencing disruption to deliveries. Of those, 24 are in the North East.
- Royal Mail has offered an apology for any inconvenience caused, stating: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
- The firm refreshes its register of affected postcodes on its website daily, and also confirmed its air and road transport operations remain functioning as normal. The company also states that all mail was handled and sent out according to plan at distribution hubs over the past 24 hours.
- The North East areas and postcodes impacted by delivery delays are: Ashington DO (NE22, NE62, NE63, NE64). Blyth DO (NE24). Gateshead DO (NE8, NE10). North Tyneside DO (NE25, NE26, NE27, NE28, NE29, NE30). South Shields DO (NE33, NE34). Sunderland DO (SR1, SR2, SR3, SR4, SR5, SR6, SR9). Washington DO (NE37, NE38).
