Phoenix Spencer-Horn’s devastated family and friends have honoured her memory and raised more than £22,000 for Women’s Aid by participating in the Kiltwalk.
The 21-year-old was brutally murdered by her boyfriend Ewan Methven in their shared flat in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, last November. The 27-year-old Royal Mail postman later called 999 himself, claiming he had a drug-induced blackout and couldn’t recall his actions.
However, it was revealed that after stabbing Phoenix to death, her wicked boyfriend mutilated her body, lied to her mother that she was still alive, and spent hours browsing porn on the internet. On Sunday, Phoenix’s family, friends, and colleagues took part in the Kiltwalk in Edinburgh in her memory.

The group, who named themselves Phe’s Angel Fighters, chose to support Glasgow Women’s Aid. Hundreds of donations have been made to the cause, with over £22,000 now raised towards a £35,000 target, reports the Daily Record.
Jen Strachan, who organised the fundraiser, wrote on the Gofundme page: “Our darling Phoenix was only 21 when she was taken from us, leaving the biggest hole in our hearts.”
“Phe was the most high spirited, cheerful daughter and friend with the best sense of humour – always looking out for other people and putting others first.
“Her name, Phoenix, now stands for more than loss. It stands for action. For change. For refusing to let her story end in silence. This is what it means to rise from the ashes – to take devastation and use it to protect others.
“On the 14th September, a number of us will be walking 20 miles in support of Glasgow Women’s Aid but most importantly, to remember our beautiful friend, Phoenix.
“Phe’s legacy will live on forever, her name will never be forgotten and she will always be the girl with the stunning smile. We love you Phe.”
Glasgow Woman’s Aid praised the family for their “unwavering determination and generosity” ahead of the walk.
They said in a statement: “Today we stand behind the inspiring friends and family of Phoenix Spencer-Horn as they embark on the Edinburgh Kilt Walk. Walking side by side for 21 miles in Phe’s memory.
“Their unwavering determination and generosity will make a huge difference in her name. Thank you Phe’s Fighters and good luck!”.
The café where Phoenix was employed in Strathaven, Roasted, added: “For the fallen daughter/friend/colleague known as Phe. This is for you kid.”
In July, we reported how a beautifully handcrafted memorial bench was dedicated to Phoenix in the grounds of the Strathaven Hotel where she previously worked.
The timber bench, crafted by local artisans in the market town, honours the beloved and beautiful young woman with a touching inscription which reads: “Phe, the girl with the stunning smile. 21 ‘forever young'”. In a touching tribute to her favourite song, Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, the lyric ‘thunder only happens when it’s raining’ is inscribed on the bench along with Phoenix’s birth and death dates.
The words, ‘love you, bye’ are also etched inside a red love heart.
The tight-knit community was left devastated by the horrific events of 18 November 2024, when Phoenix was brutally murdered in the East Kilbride flat she shared with her boyfriend Ewan Methven.
Phoenix had sustained a total of 20 stab wounds – the fatal one to the chest. Methven, described in court as “the personification of evil”, confessed to the gruesome murder when he appeared in the dock in July.
Judge Lord Matthews sentenced him to a minimum of 23 years in prison before he can be considered for parole.
