FBI ‘didn’t investigate Prince Andrew’s links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he’s a royal’, lawyer for billionaire sex offender’s victims claims in new US documentary
- FBI didn’t investigate Prince Andrew as he was royal, Epstein victims’ lawyer says
US security services did not investigate Prince Andrew’s links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he was a member of the royal family, a lawyer representing the billionaire sex offender’s victims has claimed.
Lawyer Lisa Bloom told the upcoming US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew that the FBI did not take action over witnesses who could be interviewed about the Duke of York’s potential connections to Epstein.
Ms Bloom, who represents five of Epstein’s victims and a witness who says she saw Andrew with accuser Virginia Giuffre as a teen, said it was decided that those at the ‘highest level’ decided not to ‘go after’ the Prince, the Mirror reports.
The lawyer reportedly was confused that Andrew’s notorious interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019 was not used by the FBI as he said things that ‘they could probably disprove’.
In the now famous interview, Prince Andrew claimed he was at a ‘Pizza Express in Woking’ when he was alleged to have been having sex with then-17-year-old Virginia Roberts, as she was then-known, on March 10 in 2001.

The Duke also claimed that he could not sweat due to an ‘overdose of adrenaline’ after serving in the Falklands War as evidence that he was not sweating over Ms Giuffre on a dancefloor.
Andrew also refused to speak to investigators under oath after they reportedly applied to the UK government for an interview.
Speaking to US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew, Ms Bloom said: ‘The FBI clearly decided it was not going to go after Prince Andrew.’
She questioned whether the high-level decision was made due to fears of diplomatic issues and strains on relationships with the UK.
Ms Bloom said she believed the investigation would have proceeded ‘if this were somebody who was not royal’.
The lawyer told the documentary that if any other person was under investigation the FBI would have talked to witnesses and extradited him to the States to ‘face justice’ if they could find enough evidence.
She also branded Prince Andrew ‘stunningly arrogant’ for his decision to go on Newsight just three months after Epstein, 66, died in his jail cell.
Andrew would have thought that the public will ‘see how wonderful I am’, Ms Bloom claimed. But she said the interview had the opposite effect.

Ms Giuffre alleged that Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was underage, so if he was found guilty in a court of this ‘he could have spent many years in prison’, Ms Bloom said.
She said the interview ‘could be used in court’ and was a ‘disaster’ for the Prince making claims the FBI could ‘probably’ show were untrue.
And also speaking about the lawsuit brought against the Duke of York in 2021 by Ms Giuffre, who accused him of rape and sexual abuse, which he strongly denied, she said he lost it ‘in a very big way’.
Andrew settled out of court for a reported £12million but did not admit liability.
