FedEx offers picture proof of delivery

FedEx is to offer picture proof of delivery in the US and Canada for items released without a signature.

When the parcel is delivered, customers will receive a photo of the package, showing its exact location, via FedEx tracking tools. They will not require an account or login to access this. FedEx Express and FedEx Ground customers will be the first to have this offering.

“This is something e-commerce merchants and customers have been asking for, and we are proud to be the first to announce this service will be available to residential customers,” said Brie Carere, Chief Customer Officer, FedEx.  “Receiving visual confirmation that the package has arrived gives peace of mind to both merchants and consumers, and we are thrilled to give them that confidence.”

“We count on FedEx to deliver our cookies fast to ensure they stay fresh,” said Jeff Kirshenbaum, owner Kirsh Baking Company. He started shipping with FedEx during the pandemic and says this is something that will take Kirsh’s service to the next level. “Knowing when and where our products are delivered is key because they are perishable. Customers will be able to check their tracking number and see proof the shipment has arrived, which gives us an advantage in this competitive e-commerce market.”

Though currently only available on the desktop website, the picture proof of delivery service will soon be available on the FedEx Delivery Manager apps in some markets with a view to full roll-out across North America in the coming months ahead of the peak shopping season.
