FedEx wins fourth consecutive award for mental health awareness

FedEx has been awarded the Silver Ribbon Mental Health Award for the fourth consecutive year in Singapore in recognition of its ongoing commitment to promoting mental well-being and fostering a supportive workplace culture.

The Silver Ribbon Mental Health Award, presented by Silver Ribbon Singapore, a registered charity affiliated with the World Federation for Mental Health, acknowledges companies that demonstrate outstanding efforts in actively promoting mental health awareness and cultivating a supportive, mental-health-friendly workplace. FedEx has implemented various initiatives aimed at raising mental health awareness, providing resources for employees, and encouraging open dialog about mental well-being.

“Our employees are the heart of our operations, and their well-being is paramount. We believe that a supportive environment not only enhances productivity but also fosters a culture of compassion and understanding,” said Eric Tan, managing director for FedEx Singapore. “Winning this award consecutively is a testament to our dedicated team and our strong people-first culture. We will continue to prioritize mental health and well-being as a core aspect of our workplace philosophy.”

Mental health awareness projects

According to FedEx, it bases its approach to employee mental well-being on its core culture value of ‘Taking care of each other’. The company provides a range of programs, including regular talks and workshops on self-care and mindfulness, and has developed a ‘Shall We Talk About Wellbeing’ resource center, an online platform dedicated to providing employees with resources and support for mental well-being.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day in 2023, FedEx organized a Mental Health Month initiative that provided employees with valuable resources and support tools such as employee packs and guides. The company also launched a month-long ‘R U OK?’ campaign, which encouraged employees to engage in meaningful conversations and check-ins with team members by asking the simple yet powerful question ‘Are you ok?’.

Additionally, activities like ‘Action for Happiness’ and mental health quizzes were organized to further promote mental health awareness and encourage employees to prioritize their well-being.
