Fire breaks out at Royal Mail delivery office

A fire broke out at a local Royal Mail delivery office overnight.

Crews from Fareham and Cosham were called to the blaze in a storage roll cage at an industrial site on Mill Road, Gosport, at 12.25am on New Year’s Day.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which had spread to the roof of a nearby building, using hose reel jets.

They then gained entry to the building and used tools to check if the fire had spread, as ventilation fans cleared smoke from the premises.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service handed the site back to on-site staff and returned to the station at around 2am.
