Fire crews tackle blaze at Newport derelict building

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “SWFRS received a call at approximately 14:23 to reports of a fire at Mill Street, Civic Centre, Newport.”

Crews from Malpas, Maindee and Cwmbran attended, using breathing apparatus and jets to extinguish the fire.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the “STOP message was received around 16:25.”

Mill Street was blocked off while crews worked at the scene, which is near the railway and Royal Mail café.
