Firefighters “worked hard” to contain a fire in a second floor Hemel Hempstead flat.
Herts Fire and Rescue Service were called to a building fire in Washington Avenue, in the Grovehill area, at around 3.02pm yesterday (April 6).
Five fire engines were sent to the scene from Hemel Hempstead Fire Station and other surrounding stations, to find a blaze in a flat upstairs.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Andy Hall said: “Firefighters worked hard to contain and extinguish the fire in the flat and I’d like to thank them for their efforts to stop the fire spreading and for keeping the area safe.”
Pictures from the scene on Sunday show the road was closed by Herts Police while the fire engines dealt with the blaze.
