Four arrested in Dartford after Gravesend gurdwara disturbance

Four men have been arrested following a disturbance at a gurdwara in Kent.

Kent Police were called to the incident at Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Saddington Street in Gravesend at about 15:40 GMT on Thursday.

One person with minor injuries was treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, police said.

The men were later arrested on the A2 London-bound near Dartford, a force spokesperson said.

A spokesperson from the Sikh gurdwara said the incident arose from a personal dispute involving people not from the local area.

They said: “We express our profound disappointment that personal disputes were allowed to unfold within the gurdwara sahib, a sacred institution founded upon the principles of peace, humility and collective harmony.

“The gurdwara is a place of worship and sanctuary, where families gather alongside elders and young children, and it must be treated with the utmost reverence, dignity and respect at all times.”

They added: “Conduct of this nature will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
