ROYAL MAIL STRIKES: This card code could mean you have to wait even longer for your parcel (Image by Leon Neal/Getty Images)

Royal Mail strikes have left people across the country waiting for parcels over the festive period.
Postal companies have been urging Brits to plan ahead with their post as workers continue to walk out over pay and working conditions complaints. And now, customers are being warned to lookout for a card with a particular four-digit code on it.
Royal Mail often uses a special code to let customers know if a delivery has been attempted and failed. Anyone who receives a card with this code, P739, will have to collect their item from the local sorting office themselves.

The Mirror reports that this could also mean that your delivery will be delayed an extra day or two as it is sent back to the offices and checked in again. In some cases you may be able to reorganise a delivery day, but this could take even longer.
There are no other strike dates confirmed yet, but the dispute between Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) is showing no signs of conclusion. Therefore there may be more planned strikes in January 2023.
CWU members have been striking due to a pay dispute. The union says the pay offer is unacceptable at a time when inflation is more than 10 per cent.
